Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about eligibility, pricing, support visits, funding, and getting started with in-home aged care.

Eligibility & getting started

Who is eligible for in-home aged care?

In-home aged care is for older people who need help with daily activities such as personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, transport, or getting out and about. A free care consultation helps us understand your needs and recommend the right level of support, whether you are using government funding or paying privately.

Do I need a government assessment before I can start care?

No. You can begin private care at any time while waiting for a Home Care Package or Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) approval. We can also explain the assessment process and help you understand your funding options.

How do I get started with Happy Home Care?

Start by calling us or filling out the contact form. We arrange a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your situation, answer questions, and build a tailored care plan.

Pricing & funding

What factors affect the cost of care?

Care costs depend on the type of support needed, the number of hours per visit, the time of day (standard business hours, evenings, weekends, or overnight), and whether care is one-to-one or shared. We provide clear, itemised quotes before any care begins.

Is support at home covered by government funding?

Many clients use Home Care Packages or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). We can explain how funding works and help you understand your options, including private care if you are not yet approved.

Are there any hidden fees or lock-in contracts?

No. We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden fees. Care plans are flexible and can be changed or paused as needs change. There are no long-term lock-in contracts for private services.

What if I cannot afford to contribute towards my care?

If you are finding it hard to pay your contribution, please talk to us as soon as possible. We can discuss your situation in confidence and explore options to keep your care going. Services Australia also runs a Financial Hardship Program that may be able to help with the cost of aged care services. We can guide you through how to apply, what information you may need, and support you during the process so you do not have to manage it alone.

Support visits

How do support visits work?

A carer arrives at the agreed time and follows a personalised care plan. Visits can include personal care, domestic help, meals, companionship, transport, or respite. We aim to send the same familiar carer whenever possible so trust and routine are built over time.

How long is a typical visit?

Visits usually range from one hour to a full day, depending on your needs. Some clients have short daily visits, while others prefer longer visits a few times per week. We tailor the schedule to suit you.

Is care available outside business hours?

Yes. We offer hourly visits, daily support, overnight care, and live-in arrangements. Care plans can be adjusted as needs change, including emergency or short-term respite.

Can I choose or change my carer?

Yes. We match carers based on your care needs, personality, interests, language, and local area. If a match is not quite right, we will arrange a different carer and keep refining until you are comfortable.
